Coach’s Corner: Shots, waffles, and why less can be more…

Boost immunity with this shot…

I pride myself on my strong immunity, but recently I felt like “the crud” was trying to take hold. So I increased my sleep, continued with my daily Vitamin C, added some Zinc, and stocked up on my new favorite immunity-booster, Rescue Ginger Shots, made by The Ginger People (https://amzn.to/3G1aCI3). It is small but mighty, containing immunity supporting all-natural ingredients like ginger, lemon, and cayenne pepper.

My new kitchen gadget that I just LOVE…

If you follow a low-carb or ketogenic lifestyle, then you have probably heard of the “chaffle”, a low-carb alternative to bread that you can easily make at home with this gadget: The Dash Mini-Waffle maker (https://amzn.to/2Z2gSys).

I tried it for the first time this past weekend, and it’s a keeper! I made a few different chaffle versions and then froze them. My hubby and I plan to use them for sandwiches and mini-pizzas. Here is the popular cheesy version: https://delightfullylowcarb.com/basic-keto-chaffles/. Here is another basic recipe (no cheese): https://www.buttertogetherkitchen.com/white-bread-keto-chaffle/. And there are a 1,000+ more on Pinterest!

My personal mantra lately…

“Consistency Over Intensity!”

The health and fitness industry glamorizes intensity with claims and promises of quick results if you go all-in. But diet and weight loss plans have a 95% failure rate long-term. Yikes! Clearly, intensity isn’t the way to sustainable results.

Instead, choose one health-related behavior that you know you can practice consistently (not perfectly, but consistently). And once that behavior takes hold, add to it. The results may come slower, but they are way more likely to last! For me right now, I’m trading in longer runs and intense workouts for lighter 15-30 minutes of exercise most days of the week. It feels great and oh so doable!
